Description
Increasing legislation and regulation that incent renewables-based generation means that utilities are likely to face a growing population of distributed generation capabilities such as residential solar, wind, and biomass energy generation. Taken together, these Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) bring a mix of technical and business challenges. From a technical perspective, balancing a distribution network with significant DERs is a substantial departure from the century-old model of a unidirectional grid. From a business perspective, utilities must understand how to more effectively engage with their customers, and how to manage cultural and technical change internally.
Presented by UTC's IT/OT Committee, this summit features speakers from utilities, technology providers, consortia, and research organizations, who will examine how DERs have evolved and share success stories and lessons learned from existing implementations.
